Traffic Management Officer
Job Summary
The Traffic Management Officer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on roads, within construction zones, and at public events. The officer enforces traffic laws, manages traffic flow, installs and monitors traffic control systems, and provides guidance to motorists and pedestrians to maintain public safety and order.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and control the movement of vehicles and pedestrians to ensure smooth traffic flow.
- Implement and maintain temporary and permanent traffic management plans.
- Enforce traffic regulations, issue citations or warnings for violations, and assist in accident investigations.
- Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and event organizers for road closures and diversions.
- Operate traffic control equipment such as signs, cones, barriers, and signals.
- Collect and analyze traffic data to improve traffic systems and reduce congestion.
- Respond to traffic incidents, hazards, and emergencies promptly and professionally.
- Educate the public about road safety regulations and traffic control procedures.
- Prepare reports on traffic incidents, road conditions, and enforcement activities.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety, Transportation, or related field preferred).
- Certification in Traffic Management or Traffic Control (where required by law or employer).
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road safety principles, and traffic control devices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in using communication and traffic management equipment.
